Yakir Maccabi Award Ceremony

The Yakir Maccabi Award recognizes individuals whose dedication and commitment to the ideals of the Maccabi Movement, the Jewish People and our Tradition have profoundly enriched many lives.  It is the highest accolade the Maccabi Movement bestows for exemplary lifetime achievement, honoring our past and guiding future generations.

Those eligible are members of Maccabi World Union and aged 60 years or above at the time of the award.  The number of Awards shall not exceed 12 every 4 years.  Nominations may be proposed by any MWU Executive member to the 19-member Yakir Award Committee, which shall include up to 2 representatives appointed by each Confederation and 6 representing the MWU Executive in Israel.  The Chairman of the Yakir Award Committee, appointed by the MWU Executive, shall be resident abroad and shall vote only in the event of a tie.  The Yakir Award Committee will call for nominations, which shall be and remain secret; only actual Awardees will be announced.  Nominations must be made in writing to the Yakir Award Committee.  Nominations received will in each case be sent to the relevant Confederation for endorsement.
